DR. MICHIEL KOLMAN

President of International Publisher Association
Michiel Kolman is Senior Vice President at Elsevier and heads up the global academic relations team who engages with key stakeholders in the academic community: academies of science, research councils and university leaders. He also reaches out to the media with articles on innovation, in particular research performance metrics. He joined Elsevier in 1995 and has been in various core publishing positions, including Publishing Director, during which he launched one of the first on-line journals: New Astronomy. Michiel was Managing Director of Elsevier’s Frankfurt office for four years during which the much coveted Beilstein Database was acquired. He holds an undergraduate degree from Leiden University in the Netherlands and a PhD in astrophysics from Columbia University in New York where he studied with a Fulbright scholarship. . Michiel now serves President of the International Publisher Association.

Dr. RON DANIEL JR.

Ron Daniel is the Director of Elsevier Labs, an R&D group which concentrates on smart content and on the future of scholarly communications. Educated as an electrical engineer, Ron has done extensive work on metadata standards such as the Dublin Core, RDF, and PRISM. Before joining Elsevier in 2010, he worked at a startup that was acquired for its automatic classification technology, and consulted on taxonomy and information management issues for nine years. Ron received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Oklahoma State University, and was a postdoctoral researcher at Cambridge University and at Los Alamos National Laboratory.

MR. TONY MAYER
Research Integrity Officer
Nanyang Technological University, Singapore
Tony Mayer, Europe Representative and Research Integrity Officer Nanyang Technological University, Singapore Tony is a geologist educated at the University of Manchester. He then undertook research at Leicester University and University College London. His career has included the UK Natural Environment Research Council and the Ocean Drilling Program, based at the University of Rhode Island (USA). Later he joined the European Science Foundation (ESF), Strasbourg France where he served as Chef de Cabinet of the Secretary General. He was the first Director of the COST Office, Brussels and was also the Scientific Secretary of the European Research Advisory Board. He is currently Treasurer and Governing Board member of EuroScience. In 2007, Tony joined the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore where, inter alia, he developed and implemented its research integrity policy. He now serves as the university's Research Integrity Officer. He co-organised and co-Chaired the First and Second World Conferences on Research Integrity (Lisbon and Singapore) - the latter leading to the Singapore Statement on Research Integrity. He is the Co-Chair of the upcoming Fifth World Conference on Research Integrity to be held in Amsterdam at the end of May 2017.
